Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Legend series

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.
Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

This is by far my favourite book series, ever. I definitely recommend it to people who enjoy a slow burn series, because it can take a bit to get started but it’s definitely worth the read

After reading about the praise this book received I was so excited to purchase this title. The further along I got into this book I kept wondering when will things get interesting, unfortunately it never did and I felt like I threw 10 dollars in the garbage after reading this sleeper.
  • Disappointing in every way

Everything from the plot to characters to descriptions of places and scenes was sloppy. I often really enjoy “YA” fantasy series despite some weaknesses, but this book was ALL weaknesses with nothing to make up for it.
  • Books Don’t Make Me Cry... Until Now

I’ve never cried from a book before, and I’ve read all of the Red Queen series that’s out and read Divergent while never shedding a single tear, though it was hard. So I just made history, I guess. Adelina never did anything wrong but is cursed with a horrible past and future. I guess loss makes a character stronger, and considering she felt such great losses in the first book, I can’t imagine how strong Adelina will be in the last book if this continues!

I would recommend this series to everyone and you start to really love the characters in this series! I promise that you will cry as you read the last book, it is so sad but it is one of the most beautiful endings I have ever read! This is a MUST in the reading list

I LOVED Marie Lu's Legend series. So maybe my expectations were too high with the Young Elites series. I was so disappointed with the main character and if I am honest I found it boring. I forced myself to continue reading hoping it would get better. I don't think I will bother reading the next book.
