More Than Friendship

Obadiah Brenneman and Clara Rose Yutzy have been friends since grade school. Their relationship is unusual, they know, but they both can recognize that a good friend is so important in life, regardless of gender. Yet they've never had any romantic feelings for each other. That is until Clara Rose tells Obie that she and longtime boyfriend, Thomas Lapp, are getting married. Once that news is out, Obie realizes that he can't let Clara Rose marry another. Not even a great guy like Thomas.
But how's Obie supposed to tell Clara Rose how much she means to him when he doesn't quite understand it himself? When did his feelings for her grow into more? And if he tells her the truth, will it ruin the relationship they have? He couldn't bear it. So he does his best to keep his feelings to himself and still make her see that Thomas isn't the right man for her.
To Clara Rose, life couldn't be more wonderful and she's having a hard time understanding what's gotten into Obie lately. He's acting strange, picking arguments with her over nothing, and is moody beyond belief. Worse than all that, he starts telling her that she shouldn't marry Thomas! Never mind that Clara Rose has been having second thoughts lately—mainly because she thinks she might have stronger feelings for Obie. But they have an understanding: they are just friends. Besides, Thomas is a good man from a good family and will make her a fine husband. She can't back out of the promises she's made.
What can he do to convince her that Thomas isn't the man she should marry? Is there a way to turn their relationship into more than a friendship? Or has he simply waited too late to tell her that he loves her?
