Description

Peter Ash must follow his closest friend, Lewis, into the criminal underworld when secrets from the past threaten everything they hold dear in this propulsive new thriller from the bestselling and award-winning series.

Lewis has helped Peter Ash out of more trouble than Peter cares to remember.  So he doesn’t hesitate when Lewis asks a favor in return. Lewis has left his criminal past behind, but a former associate may be in trouble, and he and Peter must drive into the teeth of a blizzard to find him. When they discover blood in the snow and a smoldering cabin, both men know things are bad. Then they learn that someone has stolen notebooks full of incriminating secrets about Lewis's long-ago crimes, and realize the situation is much worse than they'd thought.
To save Lewis’s wife, Dinah, and her two boys, Lewis and Peter must find the notebooks. With Peter's longtime girlfriend, June Cassidy, they begin the search—facing ruthless and violent foes at each turn, including one powerful person who will stop at nothing for revenge. Will Peter and Lewis be able to keep that dark past buried? Or will they need to step into the darkness to save the people they love most?

I enjoyed this book very much. It was a page turner and I didn’t want to put it down. Great characters, fast paced events leading into a good storyline.

I have read all the Peter Ash books. They are all riveting! Nick Petrie really knows how to tell a story! Start with the first book and find a comfy chair!

4 Stars. This was great but not quite Petrie great. I don’t even know if I’m being ridiculous but these books are so good it makes critiquing them tough. Lewis, Peter, June and the cast of characters get better every time. This one was tough on them all. It will be interesting to see where the trauma of this one affects their future. I’m ready for the next one now. I hope it isn’t a very long wait.

Thrillers come with lists of twists and lots of words—lots and lots of words—so Petrie has those boxes confidently checked. But a solid good novel—never mind the genre, be it thriller crime or crime thriller—succeeds with strong characterizations and a polished voice telling a story worth listening to from pages of type. This one's definitely worth the price you paid for that pleasure in finding a good book…

I have high expectations for every Peter Ash book and Nick Petrie never disappoints. The additions to the crew are excellent. I would highly recommend anyone discovering Petrie’s Peter Ash books start at the beginning of the series, but this one on its own is still a pleasure.

I got to the end of chapter 62, and nothing but blank pages. The book was wonky right the way through. Had to close and reopen the book to get the next chapter Boo!

Worth the wait. Petrie delivers another solid Peter Ash story. Loved it.
  • Surveillance scenarios

The surveillance scenarios chasing and keeping their eyes on the bad guys were too long and overly dragged out.
