Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag’s fan-favorite Minneapolis investigators, Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska, hunt a serial killer in this haunting thriller.

On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Minneapolis, a young woman is found brutally murdered—the ninth so far this year in a string of grisly slayings. Homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska fear that it’s the work of a serial killer they call Doc Holiday, a transient who has brought his gruesome game to a new and more terrifying level. But as Kovac and Liska uncover the truth, they find that the monsters in the ninth girl’s life may live closer to home. And even as another young woman disappears, they have to ask the question: Which is the greater evil—the devil you know or the devil you don’t?

This book was so good. I loved the story, characters, and was fascinated by the brain trauma aspect. I hope she does another book using the same characters. Dana could make a good detective in a quirky fun way.

Almost no character in this book was even remotely likable. Every character including the murder victim was annoying I felt no empathy, sympathy or interest in these people. I have read some other Tami Hoag books and liked them which is why I bought this one, what a waste of money! If there was a way to return this I would.
  • All in all...loved it!

This is the first I have read from this author. I was glued from beginning to end. However, I feel the conclusion was not played out as well as it could've been. It ended abruptly. Another thing that was "irritating" was the amount of mistakes in spelling and grammar. Isn't that what editors are for? To catch those mistakes? It was frustrating to be deep in the book and then come upon a grammatical error and throws your thought process off. BUT AGAIN, it was a great book. Looking forward to reading Cold Cold Heart.

I loved this book, it should be made into a movie. Liked the way she wove the feelings of being a teenager into adulthood into career and marriage choices. Liska and Kovac are my all time favorites. Can't wait for the next one.

Kind of disappointing...not at all what I have come to expect from this author. Too much time was spent on how her Liska's older son was feeling and what he thought about things. The ending was abrupt and left me feeling like I had wasted my money. It didn't really seem like the title fit the story.
