Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Written by the founding father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud’s 1899 book is the definitive text on learning to interpret dreams. Freud’s groundbreaking approach to healing psychiatric issues through dialogue between a patient and therapist gave us enduring concepts like projection and transference, as well as the superego, ego, and id.

Above all, Freud advanced the progressive idea of unconscious desire as a driving force for our thoughts and actions. This paved the way for the revolutionary notion that dreams are more than wild nonsense-they’re a channel for symbolically communicating our innermost fears, conflicts, and desires. While many of Freud’s theories have fallen out of fashion, Dream Psychology is a great introduction to the influential field of psychoanalysis. It’s a fascinating look into the world of the subconscious-and the human mind.

This book was good but very outdated. It gave some interesting thoughts into what dreams really show, however, its conclusion don’t add up. I don’t think I’ll be reading anymore Sigmund Freud because, first, I found that it was a waste of time, second, I found that it was really a destructive book for my spiritual health, and third, Sigmund Freud died by euthanasia because he was incredibly depressed and didn’t see the point of life. I don’t want to read books from people who had no joy for it shows that they are missing an incredibly important part of life.

Considering That when I was taking psychology classes my first year of college, I admit that his clinical methods when attempting to heal his patients where not only limited but unorthodox for today’s methods. Nevertheless we all have to agree that no one was making an effort for patients with major mental illnesses. So perhaps if it wasn’t for Dr. Freud we might be in the dark ages today. When it comes to laying down the basic fundamentals that are still used in clinical psychology to this day. I say he definitely was a pioneer. I am still curious about Apple Books version and how in depth the book is?
