Description

A Portland ME Christmas Novella.

Faith failed him.

Ambition drove her.

Serendipity brought them together.

They've never met, but their paths run in the same direction—home for the holidays.

Yet their reasons for leaving are as different as the reasons they return.

Meeting by chance along a 1400 mile stretch of highway when a snowstorm grinds traffic to a halt, they have no choice but to jointly ride it out.

Exposing a common thread, leading them from the past to the present, it's through the innocent eyes of a toddler, they discover a future.

This was a really sweet heart warming read. I loved little Flynn and her nickname for Matt. It was just the sweetest thing.

As always, Freya Barker delivers a heartfelt read that pulls the reader in from the first page and grabs them by the heartstrings. I love her Portland ME series and always wondered what Matt's story might be. Holiday stories are one of my weaknesses and I love this one. In this novella, Ms. Barker manages to pull as many emotions from the reader as she does in her longer works. I appreciate that she writes mature characters that sometimes life has not treated kindly, but they are strengthened by their challenges, not defeated by them. Unwitting victims of happenstance and fate, Matt and Tana repeatedly meet on their respective road trips home for the holidays. Their reasons have less to do with celebrating Christmas than they do with clearing up family matters. The instant chemistry of the couple is only enhanced by the adorable Flynn, Tana's three-year-old daughter. While they weather the blizzard the question remains, how difficult is the slippery road to a relationship? If this novella doesn't put you in the holiday spirit, then nothing will.

Beautiful Christmas novella! Love it so much. Freya writes beautiful romances of mature couples and I freaking love that. Matt was such an amazing man. I freaking love how he was with little Flynn. So caring with his girls. Loved that we got a little of Syd and Gunnar. I only wish for more, but I understand it’s a novella and hope to see a book about Leena in the future. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
