Description

The Last Letter is a haunting, heartbreaking and ultimately inspirational love story.“—InTouch Weekly

Beckett,

If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.

I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.

My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.

And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.

So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.

Please don’t make her go through it alone.

Ryan

I liked this book but didn't love it. There was some unecessary repetition and the characters all sounded exactly like each other. I especially felt like the kids' dialogue was a little farfetched. Interesting and sad story though. Definitely reminds you to say what you mean and mean what you say, live your life to the fullest, and love on your loved ones out loud every day.

It didn’t break me the way I thought it would’ve but I did shed some tears so I approve.

This book was absolutely awful. So unrealistic that it felt like a teenager wrote it. It was predictable from the beginning all the way until the end. It was poorly researched, especially when it came to the cancer storyline. I can’t believe I stuck it out and finished, trust me - skip this one.

A (kind of a lot) bit confusing at some points when the author knew where her notes/outline was going, it didn’t translate to the pages of the book and left this reader frustrated and nearly ready to give up. Some of her leaps of “recognition” were strained and not obvious in “real time” for the reader. It took lots of rereading and second thinking to make the jumps she expected. The book ends logically (if not painfully and beautiful) but the “3rd quarter” needs revision. All said, a wonderful book…you’ll need tissues. I’m going to seek out this author again. It’s worth it.
