Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Enhanced Edition)

Great start to the series. Loved the world building, the comedy, and subtle hints of lore unexplored sprinkled throughout the book. The friendship between the trio was convincing, loved Hagrid (but seemed stupider than i would have liked, tho i may be biased b/c of the movies’ portrayal). Enjoyed the moments we got of Dumbledore. The anxiety the trio had throughout the book was so relatable to me irl, made me feel as though I wasn’t as alone as I thought I was about my anxiety. The book was darker than I thought it would be. My mom always told me the first book was “innocent”, meaning not dark, but I felt as though it was pretty dark compared to my expectations, especially when it came to Harry’s abuse during his time at the Dursley’s. The reason why it’s 4 stars and not 5 is mainly because of some pacing issues and Hagrid being used for plot convenience. I wanted the Dursley part of the book to be shorter and the climax with professor quarrel and Voldemort to be longer. The trio’s narrative progression throughout the book came mostly from Hagrid accidentally leaking information, which made the plot progression feel too easy at times. I didn’t mind it the first few times but after a while it seemed lazy. I also have mixed feelings about the Norbert chapter, I get that it was one of the few sub plots in the book but it felt like it was used too much for plot progression later on and at first the chapter felt directionless until later chapters revealed the importance of it. Harry connecting the dots about Voldemort/quarrel being the illegal dragon salesman I found utterly unrealistic. I can’t help but see it as lazy plot progression so that they can find out how to get past fluffy. Also, would have enjoyed if Rowling went into a bit more detail about what they were learning at Hogwarts. Nonetheless, I still think this is a great start to the most popular book series.

Love the series but I don’t like the updates y’all made. Can we get the original fonts back?

Good! It’s a children’s book to some extent and outside the normal book genres I read BUT I feel I needed to read this. Overall good/decent

The book and the series are okay. The problem I have is this: for some reason, every time I open Apple Books, this series has updates. Why do the 7 Harry Potter books need so many updates? Are there truly that many errors in these books? I’d like my money back if that is the case. Ever since they added the “enhanced” version, these books have been getting updates after updates. Please explain why.

A short, but fun story about a magical boy discovering a world he never knew. A classic tale for people of all-ages.

I waited till I was 25 to pick up this series. It was well worth the wait to actually appreciate the differences the book gives versus the movies.
